HSBC provides comprehensive personal and business banking services in Hong Kong. HSBC has contracted us to design a cover page and chapter seperators for their internal annual guide.
I believe there is little to add to what everyone already know about HSBC, that it is one of the biggest banks in Hong Kong, the bank is allowed to print bank notes - their HQ is in London, key figures are made up of only westerners. As of 2011, Forbes magazine measured that HSBC is the world’s second largest bank, hence their slogan ‘The World’s Bank’ hold truth in that sense.
The project
The HSBC not only publishes books and market reference for the public but they also run a regular press division responsible for creating market practice guidelines. It turns out those internal publishings never look as good as what they let out for the public and in 2011 they seeked to revamp their internal guides with design schemes that matches their most current branding/ corporate identity while keeping some distance with public publications since they want the books to be seen as belonging to a league of its own. The project brief was to create something iconic, modern and serious.
